There’s only so much you can do with no people

Catholic new agency ZENIT reported that the president of the Institute for the Works of Religion say that the current global economic crisis is not due in part to small families and a pessimistic outlook.  While the article does not mention abortion, the overall decline in birthrate, he said, was the true cause of the crisis.

Hmm...well, there is that whole survival of the fittest thing.

In case you haven’t noticed, liberal societies and governments have become increasingly enamored of the idea of population control.  It’s nothing new.  This is when you should dust off your old copy of The Population Bomb so you can get up -to-speed on the latest trends and arguments on the pro-abortion, pro-population control side.  And that’s the whole point, that there’s nothing new at all to the idea of the need to control.  Look at this broad list of population control methods Wikipedia lists:

  • contraception
  • abstinence
  • abortion
  • emigration
  • Decreasing immigration
  • starvation, famine
  • pestilence, plague
  • war

It’s all about control, and it’s all about pessimism.

Consider American opinion of China as an emerging superpower.  China has an enormous population, and recent cracks in its communist ideology have allowed them to take advantage of it and their economy has grown at incredible rates.  But beneath that façade are several fatal flaws: forced abortion reinforced by international support, the killing of millions of unborn baby girls, unsustainable ratio of men to women, and an aging population likely to implode.  China is truly the worst of communism and of capitalism rolled into one.

But there you have it: the pessimistic, pro-death control freaks can control something to death and they plan to.

War And Peace

Just in case you missed it, Randall Terry has placed himself back in his comfort zone–the limelight.  He held a YouTube contest for the best video depicting Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid being burned in effigy and enacted their suffering in the flames of hell in the streets of Washington, DC.

The embarrassment it causes the pro-life movement aside, he also moved Sojourner President Jim Wallis to issue this press release:

WASHINGTON, DC – Reverend Jim Wallis, President and founder of Sojourners, the largest network of progressive Christians in the nation, today released the following statement raising grave concerns about Randall Terry’s (Operation Rescue founder) “Burn in Hell” contest including the declaration that fellow Americans will “burn in hell.”

“Such an offensive stunt that fans the flames of division and hate is not in accordance with the Scriptures that tell us to love kindness and walk humbly with our God. We are experiencing a moment in our history of great debate about the direction of our nation. People of faith must be about the business of creating safe public space that supports a moral and civil dialogue and seeks to bring us together to find common ground or at least to model a more civil tone when we disagree with one another. ”

“Driving anger, fueling hate, and even encouraging a spirit of violence by burning effigies of photographs of political leaders on YouTube is simply not in keeping with the spirit of Christ much less declaring fellow Americans will “burn in hell.” This simply lacks the compassion and humility that Christians ought to be noted for and is not the best way to sharing the love of Christ, that we, as believers, are called to embody.”

While I could not agree more with Wallis’s assessment about the condition of Terry’s faith, I have to say it is almost as shameful that the “seamless garment” types are pushing for passage of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid healthcare reform while it is very evident that it expands the government’s ability to fund the abortion industry.

Shame on both of you.
